“Walk for the Cure”

In 2018, CIBC’s FirstCaribbean seventh year of “Walk for the Cure,” the staff of United Enterprise Credit Union Limited (UECUL) participated in one of the region’s largest cancer fundraisers.  This event has generated over USD$1.75 million in sponsorship and donations over the past six years, and normally seeks to add in a major way to the total at the end of the walks and various activities each year.

This event normally brings together thousands of walkers and runners across the sixteen (16) territories where the bank is located, which in return floods major highways into waves of pink and white over the weekend period.  From this event, all proceeds are donated to organisations in an effort to assist with the purchase and maintenance of equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

As we strive to maintain our philosophy of “People helping people,” UECUL is concerned about cancer in all forms and as an organization that is diverse and inclusive, we saw this as a way to support our female members and staff in a matter that was of particular concern to them.
