3RD Place – United Blazers

United Enterprise Credit Union Limited (UECUL) participated in this year’s Surfside’s corporate fitness challenge, “The Surfside Team Building Challenge 2018”. Employees and Directors/Officers were allowed to participate in a series of Fun Team Building Challenges that promoted team work, fitness and better health as points were awarded for each challenge.  AS a result, the team earning the most points won the Competition.

These Challenges included:

  • Exercise Sessions at Surfside
  • Team Hikes
  • 3 km Run/Walk
  • Get Active Barbados Project
  • Sports Day

The team consisted of two members from the Board of Directors, and three staff members.  Kevin Lashley (The President), Carlos Rochester (Secretary) along with staff members Kerry-Ann McCollin (Loans Officer/Operations Assistant), Georgia Farrell (Member Service Officer) and Ambia Parris (Accounts & Debt Control Officer).

This journey reflected what the Credit Union strives to capture as a financial institution; Team Work, Commitment, Fun & Unity.  The challenge lasted 6 weeks and its pinnacle being shown from the Sports Day, highlights the success of the Credit Union.  The factors that contributed to this success were the constant motivation, determination, but especially, the team work of the members.  Each person’s abilities and characteristics in specific areas proved beneficial in the team’s journey. The Team placed 3RD.

UECUL continues to cover a portion of the gym costs for the members of staff that have continued.

2019 is the year and as the team members said, United Blazers are ready to go again!
