Paradise Island, Bahamas: Kevin Lashley – the President of United Enterprise Credit Union Limited in Barbados is one of five young Credit Union professionals from four different countries leaving The Bahamas with a scholarship that includes an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles for the 2020 World Credit Union Conference.
The winners were selected out of 23 nominees who applied from across the globe. The WYCUP Scholarship program is open to nominees who are 35 or younger, have made significant contributions to their Credit Union or financial cooperative system, and have the potential to make a global Credit Union impact. The WYCUP program has awarded more than 90 scholarships since 2001.
Lashley expressed thanks to his Credit Union’s membership, the office and the Board for allowing him the opportunity to serve. Lashley said “This is another victory for Team United over the past 12 months. We were successful financially, commenced some new initiatives for the staff, placed 3rd in a Surfside Team Building Session and are in the process of completing our office renovations so we can better cater to our membership”. Lashley also expressed thanks to the World Council of Credit Unions for the international award as he said “The World Council of Credit Unions is intentionally trying to develop the next tier of leaders – our youth. This really makes me excited since to some extent the youth have been excluded from leadership opportunities. WOCCU intends to facilitate them with some tools to succeed.”
Congratulations were received from several Credit Union professionals..
“Kevin, you are truly inspiring. [You are] not just destined for greatness you are greatness defined!”
